The Top Safety Violations From FMCSA’s Enforcement Cases Are…

In the first month of FY 2019 (i.e, Oct 2018), FMCSA closed 261 enforcement cases against motor carriers, with 76 of the cases (29%) involving hours of service-related violations and fines. The top 3 HOS violations were: (1) no logs; (2) false logs; and, (3) no supporting documents on file. In all of FY 2018 (Oct 2017 – Sept 2018), drug and alcohol testing (D&A) violations were the most frequently cited violation in the 4,660 enforcement cases made by FMCSA against motor carriers. 46% of the enforcement actions involved D&A testing violations.
