As many of our loyal 60 Seconds readers are aware, we have embarked on a series of articles to offer our thoughts on where the government, and more specifically FMCSA, can assist in making measurable improvements in safety. This effort was built on our Measuring.Improved.Safety.Success article. With the presidential election now behind us, we thought it would be appropriate to pull these pieces together into one location, to offer the incoming administration some thoughts from the STC team on some opportunities for safety improvement.
The articles cover a wide variety of issues, and include everything from revising the regulatory process, to technology and data, driver performance and behavior, addressing distraction, education solutions, revising the New Entrant Program, Beyond Compliance, adjusting enforcement practices, carrier best practices, implementing recommendations from safety professionals, and more. Using the links below, interested parties can read our commentary on these topics and where we think improvements can be made. It is our “donation” to the new administration as they bring on new leadership and consider which safety issues they plan to address and how.
