A new OOSC change is set to go into effect on April 1, 2026, to address ELD tampering. The change is to address situations where ELDs are tampered with to the extent that inspectors are unable to identify when the driver was driving or resting, and in those instances, there is no way to know if the driver is over their available hours at the time of inspection.
According to the American Transportation Research Institute, the operational cost of trucking actually declined year over year by 0.4 percent; however, this is only if you include lower fuel costs. Without the fuel savings, costs rose 3.6%.
According to camera maker Lytx’s 2025 Road Safety Report, there was a 24% increase in industry-wide collision rate from 2023 to 2024.
