According to the National Transportation Institute, 2025 saw year-over-year gain for driver pay hit its highest point in 18 months, with a clear trend among for hire-fleets that they are placing emphasis on their most-seasoned, longest-tenured drivers.

FMCSA released $118 million in grant funding through 3 grant programs. $71.6 million, goes to High Priority grants, which support state and local enforcement efforts to reduce crashes involving commercial vehicles, improve safety data, run public awareness campaigns, conduct high-visibility enforcement on high-risk corridors, improve the safe movement of hazardous materials, and deploy new compliance technologies.

Along with High Priority Grants, FMCSA also released $43.8 million is dedicated to CDL Program Implementation grants. The funding helps states comply with federal requirements and fortify the CDL issuance process against fraud, while improving training, compliance oversight, and the timely processing of convictions between courts and state systems.
