- According to FMCSA in a report issued December of 2024, the weighted average of costs per CMV crash (in 2022 dollars) for each non-injury crash is $46,612, $385,306 per injury crash, and $14,535,460 per fatal crash.
- The American Transportation Research Institute’s 2025 Top 100 Truck Bottleneck list indicates delays on truck drivers due to congestion are the equivalent of 436,000 drivers sitting idle for an entire year.
- In a fleet survey on roadside breakdowns conducted by Trimble and Freightwaves, 84% of fleets experienced breakdowns more than once per month, and 65% had costs of $1,000 or more per breakdown. Only 8% indicated that breakdowns have minimal operational impacts, which suggests the large majority believes they create significant challenges.
